#$$^% I just payed Les Schwab 74 dollars to spin balance and mount two tires for me!!
Can you %&^* believe it? I am going to buy a Tire mounting machine and do it myself or else I am going to cut them in half with a Sawzall and glue them /stitch them on the rim.. when i was there I saw people coming in and paying big bucks for brake work...

So they hide the price and profit for the "On Sale" tire. For something whose Raw product /wholesale cost is probably like $40 a tire, they profit like another $40.00 bucks !!

Discount tire does rotations and balancing for free forever if you buy your tires there.

I think Schwab has a special right now. They'll change the Winter air in your tires for Spring air for 25% off.

Wow, you purchased the tires from there too? Costco mounts and balances em for free if you buy em there. They dont have the greatest selection but their prices are fair.

WalMart does it for 12 each with lifetime balance.

once I was at the local fleet farm, and on the marquee it stated that tires were mounted and balanced free. so I went home and got 4 used tires I had been waiting to get put on, and drove down there. had the work done, and when they presented me w/ the bill, I was shocked- " it says free on the billboard," I said- "that is if you buy them here"- "well, it should say that"- after a call to Management, he was instructed to give me my tires-free of charge- and change the marquee.

that was a good deal. up here in Minneapolis, I have yet to find a place that will mount/ balance for under $25./ea.

I am hoping to build a new garage this year, and hopefully will have enough room for a $60 manual tire changer.

I have been going to the discount tire, too. I wont even take my car there for them to switch summer/ winter treads, though. usually I roll in loose tires to swap.

I have a manual tire changer. It's called a jack and a lug wrench.

Mexican used tire dealer down the street will mount and balance for $7.50.

I paid a indie shop $40+10 (because I liked the job the guy did) to switch my tires from my bundts to my new steel rims, replace the valve stems/cores, and bubble balance the wheels. . I of course had to pull the tires off the car and torque them back down, but no big deal. . .I got my steel rims on the car, definitely worth it. . .

On another note, the steel rims are a ton heavier then the bundts, I never imagined they'd be so light (yet so ugly). . .
