Free BMW 16" x 7.5" rims with 215/55R16 tires to fit an '87 w124?

I have access to 5 free aftermarket rims in excellent condition bought for a 1990 BMW 735i and some new 215/55/R16 tires to go with them. Two questions about this:

1. Is there a better way to tell if the rims will fit besides putting them on? (I don't know the offset, but I do know they fit the BMW they were on well, and those E32's needed a lower offset)

2. Would I have problems with these rims if we assume they are a 35mm offset (being 16" x 7.5") and some 215/55R16 tires? In other words, would those tires fit on 16" x 7.5" ET35 rims in a (300e) w124 without issues with stock suspension/wheel wells?

Thanks ahead for any thought and consideration -- as well as answers.

Cheers,
Lui

I believe the bolt pattern is not the same aside from the offset issues you raise.

I don't know why I forgot to look at that -- I believe you are right, BMW bolt pattern is 5 x 120mm, while the mercedes is 5 x 112.

On the other hand, what about the tires? Would I still ba able to use those if I found some other rims? The 215/55R16?

It sounds as if the od of the tire will be pretty close to the origninal equipment so the speedo should be fairly close to accurate.

I have 225/50 on an 8" rim on my 124 with no rubbing at all. Offset I believe is 37. Eight-hole factory wheels from a 500E.

Is it because the 215/55/r16's are too tall or wide? Or were you referring to the 225/50's?

Mercedes bolt pattern = 5-112
BMW bolt pattern = 5-120

112 does not = 120

I understood that by my second post (or first response). My question was then only about the tires -- which I can still get I think. Would they fit the car without issues assuming I had the appropriate rims?

I have 225/50 x 16 tires on a 124. tried to attach the photo here but could not. the pic is in the "8-holes on a 124" thread. It works for me. no rubbing, contact, or fender rolling.

ARINUTS, sure, I have 5 -- for a price you can have them all; they are 3-series looking with 6 fat spokes - I don't know the exact offset or width for sure right now, though.

Luke and kpb, thanks that's what I wanted to hear!

Cheers,
Lui
