Where's Jack?

Hi all,

I have a 1985 190E with 50K miles that I bought used. Silly question, but...where's the darn factory jack located?

Alon,

I guess the previous owner pulled the jack. I was hoping it was in some kind of secret compartment. I searched all over to no avail.

Thanks,

Jeff

you should be able to find a replacement on the partsshop or fastlane on this site, or you could try a dismantler like www.silverstarrecycling.com

Among the three MBs I have owned, I only used the original factory jack once and I did not like it at all. After that, I bought a bottle jack and keep it in the trunk for emergency. The original jack is out of the car and in the garage..

Alon, Bo...

Yep, I'll probably buy an inexpensive jack to put in the car for emergency purposes. Never thought about the factory jack before because I've always used my floorjack to work on my steering/suspension.

Jeff

P.S. Alon, ever tried the Partagas 150 yet?

Don't think I am familliar with that. What is the partagas 150?

you have my curiosity peaked now.

Alon

BTW, I have a floor jack at home for the car to be raised up at home, I hate slow jacks. hehe

I have the factory jack and a bottle jack as well. But I dont carry the bottle jack anymore as I have no lugs for the spre tire anyway, so AAA would have to be called for a tow.

Oops. Sorry. I thought that with a codename "Ashman" you might be a cigar aficionado. The Partagas 150 is a special rare cigar that was sold about 5 years ago. I have a couple that are aging gracefully.

I think most factory jacks bite, so I have floor jacks (along with fire extinguishers) in all my cars. Need to make sure they're secured, otherwise the trunk will get smashed up.
