MB Jack - Tire Change

I was very impressed with my first MB flat tire experience...Exept for the Jack...Very nice concept, but they didn't give it quite enough Balls...the tool kit ROCKS though...awesome...

I was wondering if there is something wrong with my jack...anybody else having trouble with theirs?

The Mercedes jacks work great. I have several of them.
I am always afraid that the darn thing is going to slip out of the hole, but never has. I had the same style jack for my VW bus.

Hell, I prefer the MB jack over a floor jack. Somehow it seems safer (block those wheels!)

The jack seemed to work great until it became too hard to turn the crank...I mean it wouldn't budge...me and my friend had to both crank it to get it up those last few inches...I had a hard time getting the spare to barely clear the pavement...Is this normal? or is my jack not working properly?

Somethings wrong with it or you had to lift too high.....the gearing is such that a woman can easily use it. Do block a tire; espically if lifting the rear.

I was going to add the same. My VW Beetle jack is of the same design (must be a "German" thing). I found this design to work better than the scissors-type you find with other vehicles...although I liked the "bottle" jack that was standard on the Honda Passport...

The jack is a Bilstein product, so that explains its popularity in Germany and Europe.

Has never had to deploy jack on my 380se... Remembers jack on my '65 VW Bus... up and down no problemo..

Even though the engine burst into flames in the middle of nowhere in Montana..

1100 mile hitchike with wifey and infant.. stuff family stories are made of...(Always better in retrospect...)

Hi folks, the jack is not very famous in Germany and Northern Europe. If you use it once you will get rust problems. It depends to the climate of your area I guess Italians or Californians won't have these problems. We recommend here in UK and in Germany to avoid using the original jack.

Cheers,

Mo

No problems here in Texas of course, and I've used the one in my W124 several times.

I've also used the VW jack often while living in Illinois...where we salt the roads in winter, etc...

I'm not sure why there would be rust issues? The jack is sturdy, and the screw mechanism comes heavily greased from the start.

The first time I used my jack, it worked great, the second time, I was on dirt and the damn car fell off of it. Luckily I was at work and we were able to lift the car back with the fork lift. I haven't used it since.
