"plastic" bundt wheel covers???
I never knew they existed until today. There was what appeared to be a early 70s 450SL convertible with plastic bundt wheel covers at a local cruise-in today. I had to look twice. I thought they looked a a little strange- then closer inspection there were black standard wheels under these. They look nice and most people may not even notice. I wonder where these can be bought?
I have never noticed them... have these been around for awhile and I have been under a rock or something? Here is a photo of the car.... |

Been using them for years ..
When they get dirty, we just take them off and spray them..look cool. Getting hard to find, but Adsit has them I have a few sets left..I will look in the shop.

I know the first batch of 350SLs sold in the USA had full wheel covers like the previous W113. Then later after the rebadging to 450SL and the new engine changes , I was under the impression that alloy wheels were standard equipment on the R107SL. being a Mercedes-Benz history buff, this one came out of left field.
did I miss or skip an option code that deleted alloy wheels for the R-107 SL?? Bob Geco |

Wow, learned something new today! Thanks for the info!
Yeah, I personally think they look good. I am sure the "average Joe" would not even know the difference. |
