Upgrading W124 wheels

Hi all,
I've got a 1989 300E (W124) - great car - and I've been offered a set of original Merc wheels off a 2003 CLK. They are 16 x 7 with 225 50 16 Pirellis on them. I don't know the offset. I've attached a photo of one. I like the look but I worry whether they will fit under the fenders without scraping anywhere. Can anybody help?
Regards
John H

Hi John, welcome to the forum.

Before others scream at you, let me suggest you use the "search" function. You will find a number of threads on this exact point, one or two very recently.

Even just scrolling through the first few pages in the wheel and tire section should yield some insights.

While I am no wheel wizard, I do have 3 124s. One is running 16x8 8-holers from a 500E with 225/50 tires with no problem although the offset (like 34 I think) puts them out a bit more than I like but they are winter wheels so it is no biggie. Plus, with 8" rims, a higher offest may result in interference with suspension components.

on another 124 I am getting some 16x7 CLK forged aluminum wheels shod right now with 205/55 and expect no problem with a 37 ET. There are a number of folks here who have run various newer MB wheels on older 124s, 123s, 116s, etc.

John, if you post the offset you will get more responsive replies. You will find astounding info available here for virtually any issue or question.

Those wheels should look sweet. The one pictured has kissed a few curbs though

What are the key specs for wheels that one needs in order to match up on MB wheel with another car?

It sounds to me like they are:

Number of holes

Width

Diameter

Offset

Am I missing anything? If the first three match, is it safe to assume that the wheels would fit?
