Lug Bolt I.D. Help

I need to replace some lug bolts, but I am having a hard time making sure I am ordering the correct ones.

I have an '81 300 SD that has the rims off of what I am told was likely a mid '90's E class.

When I look at the pics of the lug bolts at the various on line parts places including Fast Lane, the length of the threads and the distance to the shoulder look different than what I have.

Any concrete direction to make sure I get the right ones is appreciated. I do have some pics of the lug bolt next to a ruler, but I have no idea of how to post the pic here. If you PM me, I can e-mail you the pics.

I have also contacted Luke at Tire Rack and I'm hoping for a response.

It's going to be tough to help you without a pic and some measurements. Your OEM lugs should have looked like this

got your e-mail and figured since you posted here I would respond this way in order to more effectively share the information.

The lug bolts you pictured have proved to be problematic over time. The extended area between the 'head' and 'seat' area twists and breaks quite often. The design was to get the head of the bolt flush with the wheel face but, the stress, rust and other corrosion causes them to fail in a way which makes it almost impossible to get the wheel off. Bolts designed like that have been discontinued by almost every lug hardware manufacturer. In short, you will have to accept the recessed look of bolts like the ones pictured by TEX76513

Thanks for the help. I don't have a problem with the recessed look. I would much rather have that than to deal with a bolt that has sheared off.
