Tire advice pls

Hello all,
I am doing research into new tires for my car - I have a 2000 honda accord 4 cyl which will be needing new tires soon.
This is a new to me car and i do not want to go cheap on tires and i have never bought them for this kind of car before as I have only owned gm cars before.

I am a large guy so i think that needs to be in the equation when I am looking from what I have been told regarding sidewall strength.

Anyone have any advice?

Thank you

Not sure why you're asking on a Mercedes website but it always depends on what kind of driver you are when selecting tires. If you are not an aggressive driver at all you want to get the highest treadwear tire you can get. I believe Michelin makes some X-Radials with an 800+ treadwear that can easily last over 80K miles.

I too have a 2000 Accord. Mine has 14" steel rims (its the DX, stripped down model) and i have H rated stock size 195/70/14 tires on there. Michelin MXV4 (now discontinued) and they work well for the car.

I cant remember what tire Honda calls for for the car but you definitely want to meet the minimum in load rating and speed rating. Refer to the manual or any tire shop should have the data for you and be able to recommend some tires based on your driving style.

YOu may be a large guy but it is probably irrelevant in selecting tires... you aren't going to blow out any tires 'cause you're big!

Not if you are small enough to walk to it and get in the Honda!

I have tried many others but I always come back to Michelin.

General Altimax RT is good tire for Honda Accord for the money, and if you buy 4 before midnight Aug 04, you'll get $50 rebate. If you're bigger the average, then just pump up the air pressure by 2-4 PSI.

Yokohama C Drive or Avid, fantastic grip and life, excellent wet weather performance as well and good ride and low noise.
