I've never heard good things about Continentals. I've never heard anything BAD about Michelins.

Somebody told me recently that they get flat spots on them from sitting for very long in one place. I don't know if that's true, but I've never had a tire do that.

I currectly have crappy sigma's on the 280CE now. About 2 years ago the car sat for about 2 weeks due to bad alternators(thats advance auto for you), it took alot of driving to get rid of the flat spots on the tires.

I only have one thing to say about Goodyear...........

Michelin makes round tires........Goodyear makes black ones.

If you're still looking Michelin, I see the two models in that size are the Harmony and Hydroedge.

If you're going to drive that car another 60-80K, the Hydroedges are well worth it, albeit pricey.

I ran the Kumho Touring AS 795 on my W123 and they were great for a W123, quiet, rode nice, but didnt handle great, but most W123s weren't purchased for their handling prowess!

Other tires to Consider:
Kumho Solus KR21
General Altimax RT (new design, nice looking tire!)
Michelin Harmony

I hear lots of good things about the Khumo's on the M-100 forum. Quite a few people seem to be running them on their 6.9's and 6.3's. I'll probably replace my continentals with them once they wear out unless I can get a great deal on goodyear's.

Okay the 280CE has 4 new shoes. I got Michelin X-Radials from Costco for 307.00 out the door, good deal IMO. It car drives great, at 75mph it is very smooth. Although they put green valve stem caps on it since they used nitrogen, I replaced the caps with black ones when I got home. I just had the dealer align the front end a few weeks ago, he told me that if I get new tires and it pulls to take it back to him. So next weekend i'll take it back and have him adjust it alittle, it has a slight pull to the right.

Also I rotated the old tires in my garage last week before I took it to orlando for the GTG and I think ever since I did that I have a knock when I turn left(right sometimes). It will also knock once when I start the motor. What could it be?

good choice in the Michelins. . I put a set on my lexus last year and have been happy ever since. . .

I dont know about the knock on startup (tire rotation has nothing to do with anything if your not moving), but have you checked your sway bars. Heres a good thread on it. I had that problem on my car back in '03. Its really simple to check.

Sorry, the sound is coming from the drivers side front, I can feel it in the floor when it pops(its more of a pop than a knock). When I jacked up the car I was wondering if I flexed the car to much and caused something to go wrong.

Lexxani, Come to think of it I don't remember the pop or knock until after I had the tire go bad and the whole car was vibrating badly. I have tried to reproduce the sound while the car is sitting but I couldn't.
