Favorite tire for your 123?

Just like the title says. What tires have worked well on your 123?

I am about to use my warranty since my BFG tires only last 38,000 miles.

I am looking for tires sold in the 195/70-14 size.

It depends on your priority. Dry road handling? Ride comfort? All weather? ....

My priority was highway ride comfort and went with the Goodyear Assurance. I've been happy with the choice.

My priority is durability and good traction for wet roads.

I really don't notice much difference in ride comfort for different car tires.

HMMM, since you asked what my favorite tire is, I think the L/F.

Ok enough of that. I have used Big-O tires with good results. we replaced them last summer with the same, Legacy tires. the previous set ran to well over 70,000 miles.
The legacy has been discontinued, I think this set is the last ones they had. I don`t know who makes their tires, but one of the big tire co`s.

I did up grade to 205-70-14, and the car handles better. 195 seem too narrow.

I don`t encounter ice and snow here on the central coast, just rain mostly and they seem to do well. We do go over to reno or Carson City, Nevada over hwy 80 or 50 in the winter through the snow/ice and haven`t had a real problem.

all mercedes benz cars should have nothing but Michelin tires installed...
top ride/wear rated of course.
that said, I put on what's good from my parts cars... so far I've not had to buy any tires. just buy cars with good tires on them... then swap around when they wear out...
my latest 240D euro 5 speed came with a full set of BRAND NEW tires!!!

Who else has gone to 205-70-14? I did a search and didn't find too much on it. Read that the 195-75-14 are a better choice for durability.

You sold a couple of set to 123 owners? What is the benefits of going with a 205/70-14 instead of 195/70-14?

I also like the General Altimax 205/70R14. They're built like my much loved Pirelli P400, no longer available, (I had 3 sets each going 70-80Kmi), with polyester carcass, nylon cap ply under 2 steel tread plies. XT load rated, good for huge loads at 51 psi max inflation, I run mine at 40 psi for improved fuel economy. Non-directional, so you can rotate them on the wheels at 40Kmi, rebalance, and guarantee 80Kmi usage. General Tire is owned by Continental Tire. Made in Mexico and Brazil. I got mine on a "buy 3, get the 4th one free" deal, and am pleased with the bargain. Currently 15Kmi, no problems.

After hours of reasearch the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S is the best all around tire according to the Tire Rack site. It is also available in the 195/14 tire sizes you were looking for.

Pilot Exalto A/S 195/60R14 $96.00 (each)

I just got a set of Kumho Power Star 758 tires put on my '83 300D. So far, the have a nice quiet ride to them. They are very good in the rain too. So far, they are good tires.

I have Bridogestone Grid 019s on my 123. Great tire, so long as there's no snow or ice on the ground. Corners well and grips wet. Nice quiet ride, for a diesel, that is.

205's on my wagon. I'm considering going back to spec when replacing though. Just for the sake of being in spec; no other reasons.
