Luke - winter tires question - T or H rating?

Hey Luke,

Looking at Michelins for my 1998 E430. Either the X-Ice XI2, which is 'T' rated, or the Pilot Alpin PA2, which is 'V' rated.

My main concern for the winter is grip and traction in nasty weather.

Would the X-Ice XI2 be suitable for my E430? My car has a 'V' speed rating with 17" rims (sport).

TIA!
C.

the 'T' rated studless ice and snow tire will offer much more winter traction.

You may want to consider the Primacy Alpin PA3 which is H-rated. It may be the "compromise" choice between the T and V-rated tires. I've had it for 2 winters and have been happy with it. Smooth and quiet (for a winter tire) with good handling on the dry/wet/icy. Does okay on snow, but if you do a LOT of deep snow driving, then certainly go for the grippier XI series.
