Dunlop DSST - Run Flat Tires
Does anyone have experience with the Dunlop SP9000 DSST 's ? This is a "run flat" version of the SP9000, which I understand is a pretty nice riding and performing tire.
Vehicle is a 1991 560SEC. H&R springs, Bilstein Comforts and currently Lorinser RS-90 16", with 225/50-16 Dunlop SP-8000's. I am replacing the 16" with 17", and anticipate new tire size to be 245/45-17. Does a "run flat" version of a tire severely effect it's handling and quality of ride ? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cordially, Bruce |

...I've heard that DSST type tires require install of tire pressure monitors

Unless you absolutely need the run-flat technology I would stay away.
Yes you will need a remote air-pressure monitoring system ($200+), and the tires are very heavy, and don't respond nearly as well as the non run-flat version due to their weight. Best of luck, :-) neil |
