What will fit?
i barely started to look into rims and tires for my mercedes since i was pleased with some rims i bought of my uncle for my mercedes like 2 yrs ago... i was wondering what is the biggest size of rim i can put on my mercedes its a 1989 300E i was thinking about buying some 18x8 front 18x10 rear... please dont think im dumb its my first car and the first time im gonna change the rims... haha

If you want to keep the ride quality, i would go with a set of 16 X 8 rims from a 210 chassis. They are on craigslist cheap all the time.
There is a great selection of tires 205/55/16 or 215/55/16. This will preserve the ride characteristics of the 124 while offering nice handling and upgrading the look.

The consensus on other Mercedes forums and 124 threads in particular is that 18X10 will not fit on the rear without some surgery.
Your milage may vary.
