Rubber for 85 500 sel
Good evening,
Would Dayton touring tires 205/70/14 work well on my old 500 sel? The current tire is a GY regatta Thanks, |
Your wheels are 14"?

Yes, the old boat has 14" wheels and tires usually last 60K.

We got the Yokohama AVS Db for my daughter's '88 420SEL and have been very happy with them; V-rated and exceptionally quiet (e.g., the Db name). About $70 each from Tirerack in the 205/65-15 size. 14" may be even less.

Well 205/70/14, I would say you won't be able to find a tire that is performance oriented due to the tall sidewalls. I would focus on more touring characteristics which would suite your 500SEL.
Toyo 800 Ultra ($46 from http://www.treadepot.com ) UTOG 700 AB, T-Rate (100k mile warranty (100 day, 3k mile test drive) Great ride, does the essentials that are needed at a great price. http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines...s/jpgs/800.jpg http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines/broad/800.html I don't see many other tires worth spending money after because they won't be able to do anything more really with such tall sidewalls. |
