Tire Pressure for 96 SL500
I have put two sets of tires on my 96 SL500. When I inflate them to the recommended 30 front 33 rear, the car bounces. This happen on both sets. Cooper and BF Goodrich.
Any suggestions or recommendations on pressure or specific tire brand. Was thinking of the new Kumo ECSTA LX Platinum Thanks

Look in your gas tank door. The correct air pressure should be listed there for a vehicle of that era.
Oftentimes the air pressure listed in the door is the recommended aur pressure for the vehicle when it is fully loaded. The gas cap door will list standard air pressure, fully loaded air pressure and also the air pressure recommended by Mercedes if you are going to drive more than 100mph. Otherwise, you want to find out what is the stock weight of your car, preferably the axle weights too, then adjust your air pressure on your tires to something that will still carry the weight but not be as stiff. You will need to know the load capacity of the tires at various inflation pressures if that is the case. I think there is a plaque somewhere in the engine bay that shows the unladen weight of the car, and perhaps even the axle weights too.

Thanks, I do use the pressures listed on the gas cap-30 front-33 rear. When I use this pressure, the ride is really rough. I usually end up setting the pressure to 28 to 30 on all four tires.
