What US cars have lug bolts?
An other thread told of a way to fix stripped hubs by finding a half inch lug bolt and tapping the hub to fit it. The poster said that he did it and it worked well.
My problem is that I can not find a half inch lug bolt, everything I see is 12 mm or 14 mm. Auto parts stores want a year, make and model to find things. Does anybody know of a US (or old British) car that uses lug bolts?

Even if you find a larger US bolt, it likely will not have the correct spherical base to match the Benz wheel seat.
But 1/2 inch is smaller than 14mm, so if you stripped a 14mm thread 1/2 inch won't help. |

It may be possible to build up the stripped hole with weld metal, then drill and tap to accept the original size lug bolt. I would do whatever it takes to have all lug bolts match.

That's probably one of my few dislikes about a Mercedes is their use of lug bolts. I prefer lugs with nuts like US cars. If you snap or strip one, you can always press it out and easily replace it with a new one. If you snap off a bolt like I've had happen on a W124 300D, you're really in trouble.

Shouldnt you have been able to use a pair of vise grips and twist it off? or if it comes down to it drill it out? I had a header stud break on my Accord and thats how I fixed it. just drilled it out.
