will the pilot sport A/S plus (215/45/17 XL) protect my rims? where i live, the road is not that smooth,so i wish that they will be able to protect my rims. |

My opinion having run some very low-profile wheel/tire combination is if you're looking for pothole-proof, don't go bigger than 16s on the 124. You can help the setup some by running max. sidewall pressure, but that will make it ride like a corvette.
It's a tradeoff, looks and handling vs ride and hazard protection. Some potholes will damage even the OE 195/60-15s. Our roads are bad enough in the spring that I ran a set of -1 conversion winter wheels/tires on the quattro.
