Tire Fit Kit, Tire Inflator, Tire Pump - whatever you call it

Does anyone know what the difference between the new tire inflators and the old tire inflators is? My SLK32 has the pump missing from the TireFit Kit, and I want to buy a new one so I won't need a tow if i get a flat.

I found out it was re-designed February 2003.
New part number:
000 583 13 02
Old part number:
000 584 05 02 : 90 40
Do they both fit in the same size cubby?
Thanks!

The reason I ask is because I found the new part for sale, and my car would have come with the old part (sold originally in 2002). I doubt that it's much of a change or if it's at all a big deal, but I thought I'd ask.

Toss in a can of Fix it flat and be done with it. If you are worried about a tow. It will inflate the tire and plug small leaks.

this part number 000 583 13 02 was not used in the SLK32 AMG Kompressor W170.466

EPC shows:

MB# 000 583 05 02

and from chassis number F 288836 it lists MB# 000 583 07 02

Please recheck, this is a bad number 000 584 05 02 : 90 40

Have a great day.

You're absolutely right, it was a mis-type. The other two numbers I'm told was the color code, meaning it's black or something.

I already have the gloop from Mercedes, and I can buy the 000 583 13 02 for a reasonable price. It isnt made specifically for my car but will it fit in the same cubby as what was spec for my car (000 583 05 02)?

Okay okay. I just found out that 000 583 05 02 (the proper part for my car) supercedes to 000 583 13 02 (the CLS one I'm probably buying). That means that its effectively the same part right?

Where are you getting your data?

EPC shows only:
MB# 000 583 05 02
which never was superseded to any other number.

I actually found a small Battery (Cig lighter/Power point) operated one at Autozone for cheap that fit the little square place for it exactly. And I strapped that in. It was less than 20 bucks

In my case, I also needed different length Lug bolts for the cheater spare which I have yet to find. But mine is a 99 SLK 230

Does your pump work with the MB-glue? That's the chief reason for me to stick with the MB pump.

No.... I doubt it. Just was intending to use it to get by... such as to keep the Rims off the pavement and from scaring up when loading it on a Trailer.... with a can of Fix a flat should get you loaded and save the rims. Don't think it will do like the factory later one though. Not perfect factory but functional.
