"we," as in 'you and I' aren't debating it. which is why i didn't reply to your initial post (notice I replied to all the other ones).

those don't look half-bad. they're obviously 17's or 18's. what does each wheel weigh, without tires?

18 is the max one should ever go on these cars but the top number that i stop at is 17......anything over that to me just kills the BENZ ride of these cars.

The W115 doesn't look bad in that color with the CLK rims. Any other color and it probably would look bad.

I'm never comfortable casting aspersions on someone's pride and joy so the usual disclaimer applies:

"If you like the way it looks, enjoy it!"
Exactly why I put them on the wagon instead, and went for the 15" Bundts on my 300D.

I knew the CLK wheels would look great on the wagon, because of the more straight spokes and flatter surface (compared to the Bundts).

We're not debating, it's mostly Sev talking to himself.
I think he's creeping slowly onto my "list".........

I must admit, I don't much care for those wheels on W123's too much, but for some reason they look really good on that W115. Like Joe said I think it's the color......

Hi Jimmy,

Maybe they work better on darker cars, but I would still prefer the correct wheels. Who is this guy anyway, I don't know all the kiddies?

I think they work on that 114/5 because of the heavy bumpers. They wouldn't suit a Euro or pre-74 US 114/5 as well. Or you'd have to lower it and end up with a resto-rod.

I saw a 6.3 with chromed 140 8-spokes and it was a taste I've yet to acquire.

Personally, I like them the best on the Manila Beige 123 because it's such a pristine car. I think the 124 wagon is my 2nd favorite. They are a bit glitzy for an old beater like mine. IMO, they don't look bad on any of the cars shown above.

To each their own, though. Part of the fun of car customization is seeing what people come up with, good or bad. To me function is more important than style. These wheels appear to be more functional than the originals, so I don't particularly care if they aren't the most appropriate style.

I am however, interested in them because of their light weight. What I'd like to know is how to tell which ones are the lightest, and how much they actually weigh.

Just for the record, I didn't particularly care for them on the CLKs.

Tires.

I like the bundt wheels, especially the funky Euro ones I have on the '83. They're light, "period correct", and classy. Too bad they don't make many (any??) decent 14" TIRES! If I could find - and maybe they exist - some relatively inexpensive 215 60 14's, I'd like 'em even more. I've got 215 70's on now, and the car does o.k.

For a while I had 8x16's on the '84 TD I used to own. That car handled great. On rails?? You betcha!

hey brandon, there's no way to tell by the part number alone. the 16x7's would be the ones you're looking for in the light weight option. I believe they didn't come equipped as stock on US models, but only abroad. the 16x6.5's came as stock in the US. you basically have to ask whoever is the seller to weigh each wheel down to the ounce individually. actual weights have been recorded as between 12-14lbs each for the light ones from the discussion I remember. a set of four 12lb wheels would be awesome. on an e430, imagine how much a$$ you'd haul with these wheels and light weight tires

also, these are polished but not chromed wheels. you can easily have them media blasted with a light weight media, and then paint them to your desired color, including the original silver color the bundt wheels came in. maybe then it will match the w123 chassis better
