I like their front end treatment. Blacking out the inside of the headlights to blend with the black grill looks good IMO, like the smoked turn indicator lenses too.

And I agree with most people, that it looks better with the polished lip wheels. The blue ones take it one step too far. I'm not a real fan of the checkered flags in the rear window either, but at least it's on a retractable blind.

holy schnitz i didn't even notice the rear window retractable shade! i knew this was an option on the w126--maybe that's when they introduced it on the w123, in 1981. am i correct? if so, does anyone know the part number of the rear parcel shelf with the retractable shade, and the color code for blau for the interior? what other parts are needed to pull off the shade installation?

If you take a bit of silver spray paint, and just mist the amber bulb, it hides the amber reflection, but still lights up amber.

or, rather than going the 'ghetto' route, you can buy "silver vision amber" or silver vision <whatever colour you want> bulbs

I used to have the black/dark gray grille insert + black headlight insert combination on my yellow/beige W123. Didn't last long until I wanted to go back to the original, classic look. For darker MBs like this blue W123 it should be fine. Depends on the look you're going for. Obviously the wheels added the necessary touch to this example.

Wow! Flashbacks to my days as an alignment technician!

When I see that car all I can see is some kid with more money than sense staring blankly at me while I try to explain to him why his ball joints and wheel bearings are bad, and why the tires won't last!

The care itself doesn't look too bad, but the butchered suspension and stupid-looking wheels have got to go!

I would be embarrassed to even test-drive that car, afraid someone might see me in it.

They could use tubes, for the really stupid setups . . .

In Poland they routinely pull up onto the curb to park . . . most of Europe has rougher roads than over here, (not main ones, but the back roads)

I would rather have a stock 123 than that 1st picture! Obviously someone was helping the economy, and many more will follow . . .

You can get them aftermarket.

well yeah, but then it wouldn't be a mercedes part. personally for almost all parts inside the cabin except the head unit, i prefer to install mercedes parts if they are available, even if they're from another chassis

i'm not as familiar with the w123's suspension, but i do have benzboy camber arms for potentially negative camber situations on my w201, as a result of running extra wide wheels. anways, the wheels look totally vertical from the pictures, don't seem to have any camber castor issues. would it help if they were an inch or two narrower? of course, but then he wouldn't be able to pull off the look of the wheels and tires being an extension of the arches

as an alignment guy, i'm sure you know that anything is possible with the right aftermarket parts when it comes to alignment--except the impossible, that is.

If someone wants smoked lights on their W123, they can do it themselves. W123 diesels with the short Euro bumpers seem to have a self tinting function, but it only works on the left side. There used to be a writeup on adding smoke tint to tail lamps on BenzWorld. It disappeared from the site after they went through ownership changes, but I found an archived version of it from 2005.
