There is a Japanese lens spray (Vans?) that comes in an all-Japanese labeled can that the kids think is very, very good. Not cheap, but considering the cost of what you are applying it to, reasonable.

VNT Night Shades is what I would use to smoke my tail lights...

A few nice light coats and it will look good.

i'd rather go with the red and clear tail lights that are readily available on ebay rather than tinting them with spray paint. tinting from the inside will ruin your light output and tinting them from outside will fade within a few months

You gotta be pretty careful driving deep dish rims with stretched tires like that. It's for show, not very drivable.

Thats why you follow up with a few layers of clear.

The tail lights on my TE look like factory fresh lights.

People try to justify the look and say that it's not "ricey" because it came from Germany rather than Japan.

Bringing back this car from the archives.

While searching info and learning and taking in the personalities of this forum board I came across this car. Almost everyone didn't like the way the wheels looked on this car.

Painted lips... tucked tire bead... super wide wheels...

But that was on 2009/10. Trends have changed and painted rims have been appearing at SEMA and other sponsored shows throughout the States. This guy was obviously on the "cutting edge" of wheel fashion.

Personally, I really like the look. I understand that there are the "purist" that think things should stay the way they came from the factory.

"If Mercedes Benz wanted the car to have wide wheels they would have engineered the car to have wide wheels." Or lowered suspension. Or tinted windows. Or loud stereos with GPS and DVD players etc...

But, "you are what you are and thats all that you are" as Popeye might have said at one time back in the 60's.

I suppose this post would make a good start for a new thread. But maybe later...

In the meantime, do people still feel they need to hate on this guy? Do you need to berate and belittle him because he might wear his pants below his waist. And maybe you are too old to pull off that look. (Similar too when big bell jeans and a butterfly shirt collar was fashionable"

My last meeting at SEMA in 2009 I saw cars there that would piss off many "purist". Why would you wrap a Bently in vinyl? Answer? Because you can. And not many have the balls to do it. And because you do what you want to do and it a'int hurting nobody except the... (fill in the blank)

I like to see enthusiasm in youth. I like to see them imagine and design and lead the future. I may not care for some of the things I see. But I damn sure appreciate hard work and true passion.

So, I picked up an amazing vintage W108. A 100% Arizona car from the time it sold in the USA!!! After months of searching and paying appraisers to look at cars in other states. I find this beauty in a dusty Arizona garage.

And I am gonna trick this mutha out! Dont be pissed that you think I ruined a perfect example of a German Taxicab.

Just like when I added 300,000 candle power offroad lights to my 1976 VW Rabbit when I was in high school. Not smart but it was cutting edge back then. And when I slammed my Karmann Ghia and ran skinny tires in the front and 185's in the rear and a high 15second 1/4mile motor in the 80's.

Or the many many cars that followed until today. You should see my Nissan Armada!

But, back to point again. Do you guys still hate this car (and person)? Or has your attitude changed with time. You're not still running DOS are you?
