Lugs
Ok, so I bought a set of tires and wheels, not from the original 1987 560sel, but from another w126. They're 15 hole wheels with the 25 offset, cool, and I figured out how to read all of the wheel info, awesome. Now I'm finding out I need different lugs. Not the long goofy original lugs with the collar halfway through... forget that. But, the replacement lugs I bought this past Winter for the car don't work, and unless I'm using the wrong replacement lugs, the forums read like they should work, so does anyone have a part number or a specific style/length I should be looking for? Thanks.
The wheel part # is 1264004102 ~Brian PS ~ I also scored a paper FSM when I went to buy these... for $25!! Jealous yet?

Why? Those are the exact hardware that you need. I recently bought a new set in chrome for the SD on e-bay for $35.

Well, I don't care so much about how the car looks, and I hear these are prone to breaking, so I don't want to have to deal with these bolts failing on me. I also heard that MB stopped making them as a result, and people cautioning against aftermarket lugs. So, with that information, new alternate lugs was where I was headed. What's the part number for the correct lugs, or what models were they used on? Thanks.

Who did you hear that from.............would it be a person who doesn't own a torque wrench............or from a person who took the vehicle to a tire store with an impact gun?

Just from sifting through these forums, so potentially both? I don't know. I've got a torque wrench and I've no problem using it. I just need to get some bolts so I can put on these wheels before my spare and my bald tires blowout, and preferably on the cheap, cause I've got $60 to last me until next payday (2 weeks), and I have a parking ticket to pay, a funeral to go to 90 minutes away, and a suit that needs dry cleaning. Thanks for your help.

Bought those lugs, shipped quick, good fit, except for one lug hole that's starting to strip. Other than that, they work fine, look great, the car sits higher on the road which counteracts the saggy seat springs. The car seemed like it was shifting into 3rd a little bit early, and now the power loss is a bit more pronounced, but it's doing better on the top-end of things. Nice to have rear-traction again too. Thanks for all of your help.

Be sure that you torque them.............80 lb.-ft. Don't let any grease monkey near them...............

I had to get the front wheels off, which I haven't had to do since I put new front tires on in May, and those things were on pretty good. I let the local tire guys do em. I was pissed. I hate wrecking my hands trying to get those free, and the feeling/sound when they let go... terrible. Already suspicious, I won't trust em again. New lugs are all torqued. I'm gonna check em again in a couple of miles. Thanks again.

Now you understand why these lug nuts have a reputation for snapping unexpectedly. It always comes down to the grease monkeys.
