14" and 15" W201 Wheels
I have 14" wheels like this on an '84 w201, but I just picked up some 15" and the lugs were too short. I pulled the 15" from a later model w201. The concern has risen that there may be other issues.... are there? |

The stock tire size for the '85 models was 14", at least mine was. I picked up a set of 15" rims from a local Mercedes junk yard, a 201 part number. Yes, the lugs from the 14" wheels are too short. A return trip to the junkyard resulted in me pulling lugs off multiple cars (W124 bodies) so I would have enough for the newer wheels.
If your new rims are a 201 part number (and not a 124 number), they should fit just fine (with the longer lugs). My only problem is that I got chrome rims and two of them won't hold air for more than a couple weeks. It went back to the tire shop once already for them to grind the chrome to make for a tight seal. I'm ready to dump them and get a set of ASA Type-8 rims instead. They are only twice the cost of the used rims and are brand new.
