Do bigger wheels effect Cruise Control?

Hey guys,

I just put 18" wheels on my 1993 400E and the stock size is 15". As soon as I put them on I notice my cruise control doesn't work above 40 MPH and if i try to set it I can feel a little jolt and then it just quits. Any link here? Or is it just a coincidence and my cruise is going out? Thanks!

If all tires/wheels are the exact same size, it should work fine. Are your wheels "staggered"?

if you put larger wheels or tires on your car,it will not throw off the cruise control, but it will throw off your speedometer.the speed sensor will still work to sense the cars average speed.you may notice a discrepency of 5-10 m.p.h. your speedo should be reading that your going faster than you are, just my opinion, good luck.

just another note, the speedometer and speed sensor may be fighting eachother, this may be why your cruise control is shutting off,it may think your only driving at 30 .m.p.h. try calling a mb dealer and explaining this to them, they know in great detail how the speed sensor operates the cruise control.

no larger wheels will not effect the cruise control ... and if sized correctly will not effect your speedo either
