Talking Info on Michelin tire for my C280

Looking thru all the threads for a good all year round HOT south Texas tire. From home to Houston is 80+ mph so I'd like a confident feeling that the selected tire will hold up well.
What about the Michelin TX6TH? They go for about 104 here at Sears and the Michlelin ENMXV4+ goes for about 120 each.

Look forward to al the recommendations, ideas and smart aleck responses! he-he. thank guys. LH

Assuming no snow (please correct me now!! :p ) I would recommend a good tire, that handles well in wet and dry. No Ultra-High Performance Tires, but something better then stock, then upgrade from 195/65/15 to 205/60/15, and something at least H-rated.

I look at good wear (for value of a tire) and good Wet (since thats when things really get messy) with good dry handling as expected.

Dunlop SP Sport A2

205/60/15-$59/each (TireRack)
Well, these tires are rated (UTOG: 420 AA A) is rated AA which means incredible wet traction. 420 is a good wearing tire, with a 50k mile warranty. Its H-rated, and better then probably stock. Easily compared to Michelin Pilot XGT H4s which are Michelin's High Performance All-Season tire, and doesn't even have the AA rating in wet, and no mileage warranty.

If you want more grip, then I say avoid All-Season in general and go straight to dedicated wet/dry tires. You loose treadwear and will replace them more often (maybe twice as much easily) so the choices is all about how much to spend. However, they are not many to choose from, and if you want more grip, then I would plus 1 and upgrade to 16" with 225/50/16s.

Honestly, I beleive give Luke a call. If you want mileage, and grip in wet, and dry then these are the tires IMHO. If you want more, but don't want to change wheels, then try Dunlop SP Sport 5000s.

Good Luck.
Charlie.

Tire Recos for 94' C280

Man do great minds (and low budgets!) think alike!

I went to Sears and they wanted 92.99 each yikes

So went to go see the real McCoy; er Luke and they were only 59 bucks:p yeah baby!

I'd hate to see the lady's expression 'cause she said she would match any price imagine her look with a print out from the tire rack he-he

Appreciate the post. I did a search and did not come up with what would help and if I ever see snow here in the Houston area
guess what---------it finally froze over he-he-he

I'll be placing my order this week boy is Christmas great or what!!! LH

Same here, I went to a subsidiary of Sears, its called NTB here in the northwest, they matched it, plus the $10 for S&H. Plus for an extra $10, I got liftetime roadhazard, balance, and rotate.

Gotta Love that. I found out they just order through TireRack at wholesale prices, so they do make something....Made me feel better just a bit.

And yes, I love bang-for-buck-bargains :p
