w126 plus size wheel question

hello,

I've searched the forum before I posted this, but have not found an answer for my question. (maybe I didn't search hard enough?)

I have a 1990 560sel with SLS, and I am looking into a new set of wheels. I have 20's now, but want to downsize to either 18 or 19. Reason being, I plan on lowering the car on h&r's w/ bilsteins on all four corners and removing the SLS (was told I need new actuators, would rather drop it).

I am having trouble finding an offset that will fit the car, I want this to be my last set of wheels (fingers crossed) purchased. Does anyone know the ideal offset for both 18 and 19? I understand it depends on the width of the wheel too, looking to go with a staggered setup either 8.5 front and 9.5 rear or possibly wider.

Is 25-30 a safe offset to consider? Could I go lower?
Any help is highly appreciated.

I just pulled off a set of 18's from my 420SEL. They fit and looked good. The tires were 245 40 18 and the rim offset was 20. They're sold now so I can't get anymore info.

Thanks for the info.

Did you go bigger than 18?
