Thought bigger rims were supposed to be lighter?

I had 14" wheels like these on a w201.. they were shot. So I replaced them all with 15" rims of the same model.

I just happened to be curious as I was choosing a spare wheel for the trunk and found that the 15" wheels w/ tires were 10 pounds heavier EACH!

what gives?

jt20, sounds reasonable that a 15" wheel/tire combination would be heavier than the 14" combination since there is more metal and rubber for the larger diameter, especially if the 14" tires are worn and the 15" tires are new. Would expect that separately the 15" wheel and tire are heavier than their 14" counterparts.
