We have a 95 C220 with Toyo Proxes 225/45ZR17 94W mounted on some Monoblock copies 17 x 7.5 with 35 mm offsets. We are having some tire rub and only in reverse. The tires (both fronts) are rubbing on the vents for the brakes inside the wheel well housing. The molded vents protrude out just slightly maybe 1/4".
We installed new lower bushings which tightened up the wheel and lessened the rubbing sound - but it remains. Our thoughts are to modify the molded vent holes inside wheel housing - by just making them open, therefore without the directional downward slopes for the air. But then I looked at the owners manual for the C36 and this is the standard tire size - what gives?
We are about to have the front tires aligned this week, we plan on asking to check the ball joints. Is there any other areas that have great importance to the wheel movement.
Any thoughts or comments will be appreciated.
