Question about Kuhmo tires

Can anyone tell me how Kuhmo tires are? I'm considering buying a set for my 1990 190E 2.6. I currently have Michelin MXV4 Energy (Green) tires; size 185/65/15 88H-rated; treadwear 340AA; maximum load 1235 lbs.

I plan to get Kuhmo 716 tires; size 195/60/15 87H-rated; treadwear 360AA; max. load 1201 lbs.

My main question is this switch an upgrade or a downgrade. I know Mich. tires uses good quality rubber, but what about Kuhmo? THe price for a set is really affordable, and that is the main reason why I plan to get them. Should I go get them before the sale is over? I need to know soon! THANKS!

Just do a search on this board for the different brands and read the Tirerack customer surveys. Many people (including myself, on a 420SEL) have been happy with the V-rated Yokohama AVS dB at a very similar price.

Some recent posts...

...from the other week go over tires for the 190 E and I was a part of the discussion. I am looking for tires to put on AMG style 7"wheels and I will go with the Dunlop SP 5000 Asymetricals. The Kumhos are cheap, but I keep reading comments like, "you get what you pay for". By all means, get onto the TireRack site and become familiar with all of the data that they are presenting - comparisons and surveys and test results. The Kumhos are extreme handling tires, so I would expect no traction in the snow. One way to look at it - they are so cheap that if you don't like them, just run them for a year or so and get new/different tires. Still can't make up your mind? Call TireRack. The sales guys know their stuff and will make a good recommendation. No, I don't work for TireRack. I only know they're good at what they do.

Kumhos have a racing background. They are put on a lot of Porsches.

I've had them on my E420 since I bought it a few months ago. A great tire.
