What are the longest lug bolts available?
I ask because I just found some later model 16" wheels for my '83 300SD. The car already had some 16" eight hole rims that took bolts with 38mm of shank, with an overall length of 60mm. I need bolts with about 50-54mm of shank to get the desired 16-20mm of thread exposure on the inside of the wheels. I know longer bolts than mine exist, because I used to have some. What I don't know is what their application is. Can anyone tell me this?

UPDATE:
I went to the junkyard yesterday and found some much longer bolts. However, they have tapered (conical) heads rather than spherical type needed for my rims. Are there such things as adapting washers to allow me to use these bolts with the rims I have? |
