what is the value of a set of good 80s 15inch 5 spoke ronal alloys?
Trying to do a cost analysis, I've got a set of VW rims that are very close to what the ronals look like, and if I spend about 450 bucks, I can get a set of adapters that will allow them to work on my MB.
However, if I can find true 80s 15inch ronals for around that price, I might as well go that route, the big problem seems to be that they are very rare, and a plus is the VW rims I have are freshly powdercoated and are mounted and balanced already. If I get adapters, I can just throw these on

Do you have photos of your desired 5-spoke Ronals?

heres a pic of benz 15 inch ronals- (taken from benzworld)
and heres a pic of the VW rims, 15 inch- The adapters would be going from 5x112 down to 4x108, and probably spaced out 1.5 inches to account for the offset. The complexity of the adaption accounts for the cost. I don't have centercaps for these VW rims, so I could make something that benzifies them

I see. Ronal R9s. Yes, those look nice on a W123. I would suggest you continue with your search for an MB-specific R9s to reduce hassle of modifications.
R9s came with 124 and 123-specific offsets. At the most, you's need to put on 1/2 inch spacers if you get a 124-spec R9.

I thought VW van ronals were a direct bolt on same 5 x 112mm and offset--et23 for a w123 benz, the vanagon guy up in new york wants at least $1000 for a set.

not really a hassle, there are available adapters/spacers that I can buy. If id have to buy spacers for R9s anyway, is more a matter of cost vs hassle. This would be going on a 115 Really comes down to how much a set of R9s are actually worth, which is hard to pin down based on availability.

Just bought a set at a yard last month off an old sel ,15 s ,condition was not perfect with some curb rash but it was worth the $240 .If your a yard hunter like me I find em once every yr ,rare yes but not impossible. Its the 16s that are very rare ,Ive owned some and kick myself for selling ,Ive also set my eyes on some way wide racing versions ,it was at least a 9" wide rear with 8" in the frt ,one rim missing ,im sure due to a curb ending incedent.I should of bought and made a glass coffee table ,made a nice MB racing heritage piece for the living room.

If it helps, I picked up a set of ronals for around two or two fifty. I then paid about a $100 and change per wheel for polish and paint.
They look nice when clean...
