What pads did you use with those Eibachs? Why is camber such a problem?
I am thinking about putting Eibachs on my car but I don't want any headaches . . .

I kept the stock pads in the rear and put in the thinnest ones in the front-maybe the 9mm? Not sure if camber or toe is out, but something is wearing the insides of my tires. Will find out tomorrow-got a super alignment guy taking a look at the car. I don't think there is a problem with the Eibach's-its just finding someone around here that knows what they are doing. The dealer claims he cannot align it because of my wheels. I think that is BS. It seems to me a Mercedes-Benz dealer should want to, try to align any MB that comes in their shop. It is my understanding they just have not updated their alignment machine. Hunter said they have a machine to do it-my dealer just hasn't sprung for it.

I had my car aligned under a lifetime policy in Austin and my tires got killed. When in Florida, I had my car alignment checked by a specialist in Daytona and the car was completely off (one month after the alignment in Austin and no potholes).
It seems that it is hard to find someone to trust to do an alignment on a W210. I don't know what I will do next time I need my car aligned . . .

Update

Well, took the car to an alignment shop today. They were using a basic Hunter "Lite Line" (?) non-computerized alignment machine. Found that LF was at neg. 1 7/8 degree camber and RF was neg. 1 3/8. Of course, could not adjust camber at all on front or rear.

Did adjust toe which was way out.

I am still wondering about the accuracy of this machine. Technician and myself wonder why Mercedes builds cars that cannot be adjusted.

Car is still out of alignment and looks like it will be until I get a rear camber kit and possibly the "repair bolts" for the front.

Anyone have any last minute comments or recommendations about this subject?

Just did the Eibachs on my 97 E420 and the alignment seems to be within specs. Am going to do another check next weekend as per recomendations from another poster on this site. If front camber needs adjusted I can see a way by some innovative grinding here and there. There is always a way to get within specs accurately and safely. You just have to understand what needs done.

PJG56:

What pads did you use on the E420 with Eibachs? I have the springs to the the same. Frt pad is 5, Rear is 1. I was thinking about going #3 all around. . .

Used the pads that were stock. Lowered the car about 1 3/4" all the way around and it sits about level front to rear. Should probably do the shocks too, as it feels just a bit busy in the rough stuff.
