Wheel weight

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know how much the stock 16V 15" x 7" wheels weight and also the 17" x 7.5" EVO II wheels? I am trying to figure the difference between the two setups to see if I reduced the unsprung weight at all.

Thanks,
Giancarlo

I was told by Bekkers that the 17x7.5 EvoII's weigh 19lbs per. Then called Michelin and found out that a Michelin Pilot XGT 225/45r17 weighs 24 lbs. When I weighed my stock 15 inch rim (similar to your rim?) and 195/65r15 tire from my '86 300E, the combined weight was around 40 lbs. This would indicate an increase of 3 lbs per wheel/tire in unsprung weight. My weighing of the stock setup was rather crude (bathroom scale), so the difference could be as much as 3 lbs either way. The Mercedes dealership I called hadn't a clue on stock weight.

Hey minman,

Thanks for the reply. Are your stock 15" wheels, 7" in width? I checked Dunlop's website and my tires 215/40/17 weigh in at 19.2 lbs. So I am running 38.2lbs at each corner.

Thanks,
Giancarlo

I'm running 15x6.5. Maybe I'm a little on the high side regarding stock wheel/tire weight if you're coming in at 38lbs.

The stock 15x6 rims from the 300E weighed 16 pounds each. I figure 1 inch wider should only add a pound, or maybe 2 max.

I hope this helps.
