Financing ?

As in "What kind of financing can you offer me to get a set of those Michelins?"

Otto,

Go HERE:

1900 Davis Street
San Leandro
(510) 562-8241

(AKA as your local Costco)

At the front desk ask for an Membership/American Express Application,
It's $50.00 per year and pays CASH BACK between 1 and 3%.
You'll get your AMEX number on the spot, and then can go and buy the
Michelins at the tire center.
It's a revolving credit account with AMEX,so you can pay them off over time.

I like my Yokohamas. I've used them on my truck and cars. Not too expensive, stop good, go good, never needed re-balancing. Can't complain.

I presently have the most expensive tires I've ever purchased on my W210, Goodyear ComforTreds (not the high-mileage variants, the regular ones). They are touring tires (I didn't want a performance tire anyway) and I picked them because they were the best-rated tire for noise and well rated in the other areas that were of import to me. They were slightly less than some Michelins, but out the door with mounting and balancing it was more than $200 a tire.

That said, I'm 20,000 miles into them and have nary a complaint. They are smooth and quiet, stick well and are only now beginning to show signs of wear. I spent a long time selecting them and this is one time where I'm glad I didn't fret that much about the money; I just spent it and have zero buyer's remorse.

Good luck with the Kooky Optimos.

You missed by 3. I was in a waiting room today and the Consumer Reports auto issue highly rated the Hankook Optimo H727. Doesn't come in 75 aspect, though. 215/70-14 is $85 per at Tire Rack.

I exchanged the Hankooks for Michelin Defenders(205/70/14). The tires feel great, but the road noise is pretty bad on certain stretches of highway. I'm surprised at how good they feel on bumps around town. I'm hoping to get 40K out of them. The General Altimas lasted about 27K which was only a few thousand short of what I expected.

Good for you. I have had essentially the same experience every time I purchase less expensive tires. I guess most people just live with their cars vibrating down the highway? Anyway, I find Michelins cost the same or less per mile despite the higher initial cost.

I found the ride to be exceptional as well up until 2,000 miles. I took a drive up to mount Lassen staying under 65 mph and not only was the ride smooth but I got 29MPG. It wasn't until the tires got close to 2K on them that I started having issues. Maybe I just got a bad batch.

Just found out some stuff, their are 100 companies in the U.S. that make tires. You just have to look or read the DOT code on the tire.I buy U.S. even if there basketballs.I buy German cars cause there not made in Mexico with Chinese parts. But recent news Mercdes is now in India,China, and Mexico.

I love the Hankooks on my 1995 e320. Best touring tire I have ever owned. The proof will be when they get 25-30k miles on them.

~50000 miles on my Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires, 50% tread left as measured a week ago.

I love Michelins.

Not Fair running BMW UP on lift for 25K Miles

Ne Ander Thal,

(Just to make MXV4's look good milage wise.)

You have to "Run Them Skins" on the Cement.

What PSI are you running them @ ?
(As Opposed to the BMW Specs which are???)

Can you guess what I'm gonna suggest?
I have purchased hundreds of tires for dozens of cars...and always have come back to Michelin because I have been invariably disappointed with everything else out there...Dunlop, Continental, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Hankook, Yokahama, Pirelli, BF Goodrich, etc. Everyone else out there has let me down with flats, blowouts, bubbles, bad wear, poor ride and vibration. To me, Michelins are worth the extra $$ because I know I'll mount them, rotate them every 3k miles and won't need to touch them otherwise until I've worn them out many 10's of thousands of miles later after a troublefree lifetime.

J.G.
