Alignment specs on 300 TD
My 1985 300 TD Turbo wagon is in for it's third set of front tires and alignment in the last 80,000 miles. Each time they have worn the outside edges of both tires down to the steel belts while the rest of the tire (including the inside edges) still have considerable tread left. Each time I've replaced the tires I've had the front end aligned by the same tire shop, which seems to be reputible. I've always kept the tires well inflated, if anything a pound or two on the high side, so I don't think this is an inflation issue. I'm beginning to believe that the shop is using the wrong alignment specs. I've searched this site and checked Haynes and The MBZ CD for the 123 model and can't find the factory specs. Does anyone know where I can find them so I can check to see if these guys are using the right specs? Are the specs different for the wagon vs the sedan? Also, if anyone has any other ideas on why this is happening I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
