Lorinser wheels restoration

I acquired a set of 15 x 7 Lorinser 5 spoke wheels with the Lorinser center caps. They are very sporty looking and are for the W124 series.

The wheels are well used (the previous owner used them with snow tires in winter) and there are a couple spots on each wheel where the polished paint is gone. I would like to restore it to a passable degree or sell them (if I cannot do it).

What is the best DIY way to restore these wheels? I was thinking about sanding them with sand paper and then paint them over with a shiny silver paint.

TIA.

Paint does not work! trust me, i know from experiance. I have some wheels in the basement that were professionally "painted" YUCK! Your wheels put up with a lot of stress: heat, Brake dust, flying debris, ect. Powder Coating is cheap and is what is used in the first place. It would cost about $40 per wheel for a professional bead blasting and powder coating.
Good Luck!
Adam

E320 in picture

Adam, this may be off-topic but I couldn't help but notice the E320 in the image attached to your message. It seems to be using the 8-hole found only in the C-class? Did they ever come out on the E-class as well?

I'm thinking of doing the same to my 124 but unsure how it looks - as compared to the regular 8-hole wheel. Looks like a 15x6.5, any info on the offset? Have you got other pictures of your E320 showing off the wheel?

thanks

JCE has the C class 8 holes on his 87 300e.

Search for any post by JCE, and look at his sig there will be a link to his car pic.

Adam:

Thanks. Professional bead blasting and powder coating, that is what I will pursue next. I can see how beautiful these wheels were when they were new. The previous owner said he paid about $1500 for the 4 wheels.
