Why bother going so wide. an 8 or 8.5 inch is plenty of wheel for these cars. If you lower your car later on you will have problems with wheels that large.

Matt.

hey merv check this link out http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_garage/WheelSearch.jsp?&autoMake=Mercedes-Benz&autoModel=560SEL&autoYear=1986

matt its not that i need this size its all about want. this is my project car now, since i cant get rid of it (the old saying if you cant beatem, joinem) basically i want a mean looking old person car, you see all the old chevys, mercs, chryslers all tubed out with really outragious wheel width in the back, well since my car is coming up on being a classic (in a time since) i want to play a little.

what i want to do is lower just enough to get about -1.5 camber in the rear (which wont lower much) put some stiff springs in and a bigger sway bar in the back and that should just about do the suspension mods so lowering it is kinda out since i cant stand lowered (slamed) cars anyway.

but hey tire rack says that the 560 can put a 10in in the rear and thats what i want, i dont know if the wells are the same for all 126 cars but i would like to know

Keith, bear in mind your measurements are taken without any rear passenagers or load. The car's rear will dip by some amount when fully loaded, and u might want to allow some provisions for that.

this comes off the rh website

S-Class AA-Topline 1 pce. RH 15x7.0
(26) 16x8.0
W126 17x8.0
80-91 18x8.5
18x9.5
MB 8-hole 1 pce. AR 15x7.0
16x8.0
MB 5-hole 1 pce. AR 15x7.0
16x7.5
17x8.0
Note: all ET20 wheels need 15mm hubcentric adapters

as you can see the 80-91 126 cars can have the 18x9.5 in the rear (according to the people at rh)

Pics of my car, finally!! What a loooong wait!

As promised, here's the pics:

Rims arrived and were installed on 1st June 2002. Specs below:
(F) 18X8.5J with 225/40/R18
(R) 18X8.5J with 255/35/R18

Have driven the car for over a week, NO problemo!

Only "regret" was that the rear rim still sinks in behind the fender edge by 1 and 1/2 inch. Perhaps a 9.5J in the rear would be perfect.

PS.sorry abt the blurred images, I'd borrowed a friend's digicam and did not know he'd set it at low resolution. Wasted my efforts, sigh.....

I lived there for three years and I don't think I ever recalled a better lookin' W126!
That thing looks like a tasteful gangsta's car! I love it!

I'm not a big fan of modded cars however that looks really tight!
The paint OMG! You gotta show me that car when I visit Singapore Maybe I can bring you something from the US

*BTW, where did you take the pictures?*
