Michelin Tire Date Codes?

Hey everyone,

I've got a set of Michielin Primacy MXV4's on my 300D and I'm trying to figure out just how old they are... I can't seem to figure out the date code.

Our van has Michelins on it..they were made in 2008...they are showing signs of cracking and dry rot Not sure if thats OK for that life time or not.. or ?

Anyway here are some pictures:

I don't see a date code I recognize. It's typically an oval with 4 digits like 2709 meaning the 27th week of 2009.

For all the praises you hear about Costco, they will no longer rotate the 2008 date code tires on our Caravan, let alone check a slow leak.

I didnt see one either. According to my records they were put on this car in 2012...I'm not sure if they were purchased NEW or were used or what... I know that since that date there have been 30,000 miles put on them..

It seems to me the date code should be where the "YOXX" is.

Does all four of the tires have this code?

I will have to look, but I'm pretty sure at least two of them do.

Inside of Tire

That's what I was going to add that...it's on the inside. What manufacturing process wouldn't put them on both sides is beyond me, but you discovered the answer. 5 year old Michelins usually do start to show the kind of wear you're describing.

The Michelins on my 190E were stamped "1902" when I got the car in 2009, with signs of dry rot.

Replaced them with Bridgestone Pole Positions.
