Lug Bolt Diameters, W124 and W211

I was changing my wheels on my 05 CDI W211 and went to use the handy locating pin I have in my toolbox and discovered that the lug bolt diameter is larger on the W211 than it was on my earlier cars.
Assuming that the bolt circle is still 112mm, and that the backspacing works, can I install a W211 wheel on an earlier chassis such as the W124, using the smaller diameter lug bolts that would be found on the W124?

I’m wondering if the hub centric diameter is the same, and if the smaller W124 lug bolts will have enough shoulder to be able to mount the w211 wheels on the W124 chassis?

Thanks!

Jim

14mm bolt uses a 14mm radius ball seat
12mm bolt uses a 12mm radius ball seat

the W124 chassis car use wheels with a slightly higher offset and narrower width than the W211 uses from the factory but, there is some overlap in after market wheels.

the bolt circle is still 112mm on both

both utilize a 66.56 center hub diameter

Thanks Luke,

With the overlap in aftermarket wheels, then it's acceptable to use the smaller diameter bolt with a W211 wheel installed on a W124, no?

Assuming offset and clearance issues are ok, of course....

BTW, I've been buying tires from TR for years, is there a benefit to you for me to get you involved in my next purchase, vice continuing to buy them online?

not acceptable unless you get some bolts that are 12mm in diameter with a 14mm radius seat
