Can some of you weigh in on what this date code means, see photo. Is is referring 2007 or 1997?

3 characters is pre 2000 WW ( week ) Y ( last digit of year )

4 characters is 2000 and up WW ( week ) YY ( last 2 digits of year. )

In your case, it is the 09 week of a year ending in 7. Could be 1997, 1987, 1977 ( I'm not sure when the date codes came into play )

Thanks thats what I thought. These are from a CL ad for steel rims with snow tires. They also need lug bolts as I probably cant use my existing from my alloy wheels. Ahh well back to the search.

Have the seller look on the other side of the tire for a DOT number, I seem to remember having tires that had 2 DOT # but a date code only on one side.

Check out B-stone Blizzaks on TireRack

I just bot 8 Blizzaks in the WS70 model for two of my W124's from Tirerack. Each car has stock Mercedes 15" wheels and the standard 195/65/15 tires. The Blizzaks were $75 a tire and $14.50/ to ship in the 195/65 size. So for roughly $720 I got my two Benzes ready for Winter. I thought that was a really good deal for this quality of tire. I too look on C-list alot for tires & wheels, but isn't it odd how every so often you find new is less than old?

What size tires do you need for you e300? I'd be willing to do some legwork on Tirerack to see if they still have the Blizzaks. And you're also looking for 16" wheels?
