Pick one!!!

Which wheel do you like better?
#1

#2

If it makes a difference they are both the same price at 1700 for a set of four, with four toyos. They will be fitted onto a w124 e420

I personally don't like them on a benz like an e420, but to each his own.

If you do either, you should clean your calipers and paint them red or black or silver finish, because you don't want those rusty looking things showing behind all the chrome.

I think the bottom one looks very Racy, very exposed brakes. nice painted or completely cleaned and detailed suspension bits behind would really accentuate them.

The top ones to me look like they belong on an expedition or escalade.

Make sure they will fit your car. 5x112 mm bolt pattern.

I second Alon, If I had to chose, i'd say #2, but really none of my liking....I'd say Brabus, HREs if you want something diff, theres many diff wheels out there higher class in my opinion reserved for benzes (why do you think they make adapters to have them put on lexus and other vehicles)

I think these will not match 124 cars looks. The 124 has crisp, more squarish lines. This wheel has curves. It would look better on a car with rounded, curving lines such as a 210 or 203 car.

For the same reason I think that some of the squarish, straight lined spoke type wheels look funny on the 210 or 203 cars.

My $0.02,

Oh please dont get those!!! I thought that you already had new wheels?
Personaly I do not like chrome wheels, they are to flashy, hard to take care of, they need to be rechromed every 1-3 years (not cheap by the way), and I have heard of people having such problems that the tire will not seat on the wheel because of the chrome. Chrome wheels also weeken the wheel making them easier to bend (not good).
The main reason I do not like chrome wheels is because I do not like the way they look on any car, and that most people who get chrome wheels get new wheels just for looks and nothing else. While getting wheels for looks is ok, my #1 priority is getting better performance.
So please do not but those rims on your car, I think that they would give the wrong image for your car.

I think the problem with chrome wheels is that they don't flex.

All wheels are meant to flex a little, but chrome is extremely rigid, and doesn't flex at all.

I've heard all of the problems with chrome wheels by my buddy, who works for one of the car companies.

I don't mind the chrome look but you better be ready for daily maintenance if you want them to look good.

Personally I would never buy another set of wheels with chrome plating. I currently have them on my stock 8 hole MB wheels and they look great but after any drive over 100 miles they need to be wiped. If you don't wipe them the brake dust will embed itself in the chrome and damage them.

And yes I've even tried using Zaino on them for protection but it still happens. And it is true you will need to get them replated after a few years. When I had my PPI done the MB Dealer also told me that chrome sometimes doesn't allow a tire to seat properly and causes leaks and flats.

As far as which wheel looks better from the two you've picked I would say #2.

Why not a # 3 option ?

There are lots of wheels options that will greatly enhance the beauty of your E420.

You are planning to invest a significant amount of money on wheels and tires ( US$ 1,700.00 ), for the same money you can get more recognized brands which offer wheel designs that are going to remain looking good over the years.

Think about how options # 1 and # 2 will look on your car in a couple of years ? Remember how popular three spoke wheels were 4 or 5 years ago ? Think about how do they look today ?

My advise is to take another look into the selection from Carlsson, Lorinser, AMG, BBS and Brabus and consider a #3 option. Good luck !

Personally I love the Carlsson 1/6 EVO in the standard silver or diamond cut with clearcoat.

Take a look at subman's car, looks great on there. Not to mention they're designed specifically for Mercedes so you know they are a quality wheel.

I've seen them going for around $389/Wheel (18 x 8), you can go for a slightly smaller size and save some money and spend the rest on the tires.

I've already decided to get these wheels when I can afford them.

Check out this link that Ashman started recently:

ok now I don't know which wheels I want. Argh...

There's some nice rims for sale in the parts section on this site. This could be the hot ticket.

FS: 16x7.5 ATP 8-hole wheels with Kumho tires

I was going to suggest the same thing. Thanks Paul for doing it first. Our good friend and moderator Alon ( Ashman ) stated that he was able to get a set of 4 BBS RV wheels for $ 600.00

I believe that price was for 17" and I am not sure if BBS produces the RV in 18", but in any case, that sounds like an excellent deal for such nice wheels.

E-mail or call Luke at the Tirerack and I am sure he could help you making your desicion.

Good Luck !

yeah the BBS ones are on Ebay all the time. The price is very lucrative.

But I decided ont he carlsson 1/6 in silver finish in 17".. The price was very good, the wheels I could not find locally, and I have been dying ot order from tirerack for a long time. I finally got an excuse to do so.

Mine are coming with tires, balanced, mounted, and with lugs and shipped to my door for $1485. Total.

You may have missunderstood what I said, I mean that the process that is used to chrome wheels makes them weaker, and more flexable. Thus creating a very bad weak wheel. If the chrome is ridged then when the softer wheel flexes the chrome will flake off. I have never heard that chrome is ridged but I have not heard the oppsite either.
So don't get chrome wheels.
