16 inch wheels on a W123

I went to TireRack.com and looked at which wheels they had for my car, which is an 84 300D turbo. Anyway, I liked the 8 hole 16 inch wheels. I was wondering if anyone has ever put these wheels on their W123. If so, how did they fit? Did they look ok or did they look silly. What are your recomendations for wheels? I would like to upgrade at some time but, I want to make sure that the wheels I get won't look stupid on my car.

Probably too much positive offset

I'm not sure from your description which model those wheels were intended to fit, but chances are they have more than the 25-30 mm offset for which the W123 was designed, and if the wheels are wider than 6 1/2", they probably would have to have even less offset than that for the sidewalls of a modern tire to clear the suspension parts.

roadracer-----I have an '84 300D Turbo and bought a set of 4 of their Mille Miglia Bello (satin finish, not chrome) with 225/50-16 Michelins and have had absolutely no difficulties with the suspension, etc. Ride is great and they really fill out the wheel wells, too.

8-hole wheels

Let me caution you: I have 8-holes on my 94 E320, I think someone along the line before I got the car must have upgraded because I know they aren't stock. They look great, when sparkling clean right after a washing, but they get dirty FAST, tend to be a ***** to clean, and when they are anything but sparkling clean they have absolutely no ability to catch attention or to spruce up the appearance of the car....just my two cents...
