MXV4 vs. MX4 Rainforce
I need new tires for my 92 300D 2.5 turbo.
I have narrowed down to the following: MXV4 energy plus (which is what i have now) MX4 Rainforce Pirelli P6000's Why is the Rainforce cheaper than MXV4? I would think its more expensive but its not, so is it noisier, less long lasting than mxv4? I dont know how long I will be keeping this car, so i would rather not spend too much on tires. What do you all think? |

I've had the rainforce. It has more, cheeper, harder rubber that lasts longer but doesn't handle or ride quite as good, barely. You get what you pay for, except they last longer.

FWIW I pulled P6000s off my 500E before they were even 1/2 worn because they were loud! Old design, mediocre tire-do the Michelin-that's what is going on my '92 300D in a few months, as soon as the Contis wear out. Although I may consider Contis...the Touring Contact is reasonably priced, quiet, and good in the rain.
