rim weight comparison
I have a pair of 14" Bundt rims that I wanted to put on my 113 that currently has the steel wheel to reduce the un-sprung weight and improve handling a bit.
Picking up a bundt rim and a steelie it felt like the bundt was 25 pounds lighter. I was told that the lightest weight rims are the aluminum, steel lookalike rims that came on some models. Does anyone happen to know the weights of the various rim types in 14 inch sizes? I would be curious - steel vs bundt vs aluminum. The aluminums must win hands down based on the asking prices of a used set . thanks jz |

I would say aluminum rim is lighter.Tire Rack gives weight for its rims and tires.Tire brands can vary alot.I go for the lightest tire with high treadwear.

I think it came in at something like 21 lbs for a bundt when I salvaged some damaged ones.If you want the absolutely lightest weight 14 in rim you need to find the 240d version that carries the hub caps ,these are somewhere like 14 lbs.The 99 clk 16 inch rim s are the lightest 16 s you can find, pretty durable compared too the 14s.
