Stripping chrome wheels

I have 3 Chrome wheels and one non chrome wheel the chrome is not in good condition and to make a set I need to strip the chrome. I'm looking searching how this is done if it's something I can do my self or the only way to do it is to pay a chrome shop

A plating shop is the only right way to bring the chrome off ,the chrome is only the outer surface ,their is an inner layer of another metal that the chrome is adherred too ,not an easy process ,sorry.

As mentioned, good chrome applications include a layer of copper, a layer of nickel, and finally a layer of chrome. Only a chrome shop is equipped to remove the chrome adequately and safely.

Probably a lot cheaper to find another set that doesn't need refinishing. What style wheels are they?

I remember a road trip to California back in the late 80's. Could not believe the number of MB's with the chrome wheels. Thought they were very tacky. Thankfully it didn't spread up here.

Is that one of the wheels?

Those are most commonly polished aluminum, as is the one you have pictured. I don't think I've ever seen those chrome plated, and I don't think many would spring for the option given that the finish is close enough to be mistaken for chrome by some.

Party is right with no chrome ,the 1999 clk are a much desired rim because its one of the only Mercedes branded 16in wheels that will fit the w123 chassis with no rub ,its a close fit though with the tie rod ,you wont be able to wear nock on wheel balance weights ,only the inner glued on ones. They definately sport up the look .If you believe their chrome on steel the easy way to tell is use a magnet on the 3 , if its a heavy coating someone may have painted them at one time ,wheels generally get the worst of it when someone wants to go off in another direction from the factory look.
