I've got a 300E that is running 215/60/15's MXVs right now. The rim is a Rota replica of the circa 94 eight hole alloy. Size is 15 x 8.5 ..how wide of a tire can I fit w/ out rubbing? The MXVs look pretty good but I'd like a tad wider when I replace. I could go a small bit higher in height but I'm happy w/it right now. Thanks

I would check that size again, I really haven't seen a 15x8.5 on an MB. Maybe its a 15x6.5 or 15x7 is the usually the size for Replicas.

To answer your question about the tires, I wouldn;t go wider then 215/60/15. You could go with 225/55/15, But I am pretty sure they will rub unless if you have the fenders rolled. I think the 215/60/15 are the widest you should go.

Additionally, a 215/60/15 hurts performance on the I6 W124's. Stick with a 205/60/15 for max performance.
