Putting 300E wheels on...

I have a buddy who's getting an early 90s 300E and he's going to change the wheels when he gets them. Depending on the condition they're in, I am sure they're looking better than my wheels, I am going to see if I can put them on my car. Do you know if they will fit or not with no modifications to the car? I need new tires soon, so I figure when I get these wheels I will put new tires on them.

Thanks in advance.

Look inside your 190 wheels and read off the size and offset - it should be a number in the form 7x15H2ET49 for the 300 wheels, or something like 65x15H2ET36 for the 190. (Don't know the exact #s). These are the (width) x (diameter) H2ET (offset).

ET # moves the wheel in or out from the hub, and along with wheel width affects the clearance of the suspension parts and fenders.

Post those #s, and we can say if they fit.

Where at on the wheels is this number? Do I have to take the wheels off?

It is on the back - inside surface of the wheel. Do you have a spare tire/wheel in the trunk of the same kind? That would be the easiest place to look.

Nope, the spare has some trashy wheel on it. I will see if I can get under the car enough to find this number. I don't have the 300E's set yet. The guy hasn't gotten this car yet. A family member is selling him it I believe. I want to say it's a 1994 300E, but I am not positive, it's no later than 94 and no earlier than 90. Did they use the same wheels through these 4 years?

old thread, i know. But just to clear it up, 300e wheels will bolt up just fine. They are a half inch wider. But if you are using 300e sized tires (195 65 15) they might rub on your 190e, as it is supposed to have 185 65 15
