Might these fit?
I have a 1980 300SD. Wondering if I can make these fit my car before buying them. They look great. I don't really need the winter tires on them, but if I can buy them cheaply enough...
the rims are 7.5" x 16" bolt pattern is 5x112mm the complete number on the rims is 7 1/2Jx16H2ET41 |

I think you'll need spacers...
Aloha Monaco,
The correct offset for the 1980 300SD is something like 20 or 25mm. I don't remember exactly. The rims you're looking at have a 41mm offset. That means you'll need spacers in order to mount them up correctly. The width of the spacer should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 20mm. The set up will work (it's the exact same situation that I have) but you'll want to factor in the cost of the spacers and the longer lugs, since your stock lugs will not work. Could add a few hundred dollars more. Hope this helps. Good luck,

I'm quite sure these are wider wheels than your originals making the offset number a matter of comparing oranges to apples. You may not need any spacers. I would recommend that you see if the seller will let you mount one in his driveway to check clearance. Mount the sample on the front and turn the wheel lock to lock checking for clearance. It would be best to put both on the front and let it back on the ground. Turn the steering wheel all the way in one direction and bounce the car as much as possible to see if there will be any interference when hitting a bump in a turn.
Have a great day, |

Offset is definitely important here --
I doubt that ET41 7 1/2" rims mounted with modern tires will mount directly (without spacers) without interfering on the suspension or the tie rod end of a car which was equiped at the factory with ET30 6" rims, and even if they did clear, you would move the centerline of the wheel so far inward that you might find yourself with negative scrub radius, like those "skid breaker" VWs and Olds Toronados of antiquity (and many other FWD machines), which might really change your road feel and require toe out settings rather than toe in to get proper tire wear.

Identity of Wheels for Sterling Gee
Looks like they are identical to the ones on my E320 CDI Year 2000 Model.
See Pic below. If so, they might go. Sorry do not know Part No. Mike |
