I've tested the car fully loaded over pretty rough roads and absolutely no bottoming or fender rubbing...seems to work

well I checked my offsets on my SL limited edition silver arrow wheels.

I was Amazed the fronts said ET 25/rears ET 23. The wheels do stick out a little. For you tire guru's why is this set up working on mine. It came off a 2001 SL500. I know its a direct bolt on. I'm wondering why it shouldn't of been more like a ET 35 or something in that nature.

please feed back on this any pro tire guy would be a help

Guido,
Like I originally posted, SL fitments are generally thought to be correct for our cars. Most also agree that the SL can accomodate slightly wider/lower offset wheels.

Anyway, if I remember correctly, you had 4 or 5 mm shaved off the mounting face of your rear wheels. That would effectively make the offset 29 or 30...and probably a much better fit.

If you have a chance, can you take a look under your car and measure the clearance between the wheel/tire and SLS strut? A picture would be worth a thousand words!

Thanks!

Hi Glen. I did sahve it. It got better. The rear end is not tight it sloppy. I wonder if its something with the tires. I had a friend in the back seat the other day, just making a 3 point turn the dam thing scaped. I don't get it. I have H&R's in all the way around. I just hate this level suspension. I think its the cuase of all my handling complaints. How is yours. I have too much body roll glen. How is yours in turn at speed?

you going to do that northern cal run?

My rear suspension seems to be okay at the moment but I'm currently looking into the front. I think I have either a worn strut and/or ball joint. I haven't had time to take a good look but from the way the car is driving that's my guess until I can investigate.

Not sure about the NorCal meet, life continues to be extremely busy.

Good luck in tracking down your suspension woes!
