Question Would 225/50-15 fit W202?

Initially I thought that I could use those Yokos 225/60VR15, but according to the forum members they are too tall for W202. Well, here I have done some research (thanks Luke!) to enlist the new candidates:

1. Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position
2. Bridgestone Potenza RE730
3. Dunlop Sport 8000
4. Yokohama AVS dB

All of the above have close to OEM sizes in 205. However, I noticed 225/50-R15 and wonder if they would fit instead of 205's. Based on my calculations, 225/50 would be 20 mm lower than OEM spec 205/60. What is the widest tire I can put on a C280 with 15-inch stock wheels?

Thanks for helping out. I'd like to put 225's, but just don't know if they'd fit.

Try this webpage. Unfortunately that wouldn't work either. 225/50/15s work for those 190E owners who have 205/55/15s and want to go wider, but thats it. Its just a little to low.

you don't want to go to far off stock measurments or SPeedo, ABS, ESP, ASR, or whatever gets thrown off. Not only that, going to small will lower you load rating, which means in turns when your weight leans, you might have a blowout if it can't handle your cars load.

The best thing in 15s, is acutally 205/60/15. Or if you get a lil more gready, 215/60/15s. Other then that, and get 16s with 225/50/16s (which shows you you are about 1" off from 225/50/15s)

From there, its 17s and 225/45/17s up front, and 245/40/17s rear.

18s are 225/40/18s front, and 255/35/18s rear. Start to get fender rolls and all that necessary.

Trust me 205/60/15s are the best suited tire in my opinion for your 15"

Thanks again!

Thanks yet again Charlie. 205/60-R15 is a nice tire size. I believe in M-Benz engineering and there must be a good reason why they built the C280 around it.

I printed out your comments and will use when I'm ready to move upwards from OEM 15-inches.
